Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors who do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word format. Manuscript should be submitted in 2 separate files, i.e., Title Page (containing authors' details) and Blinded Article File (without any mention of authors' or institution names)
- The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font, either Times New Roman or Arial font; and all illustrations and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- Figure legends can be placed at the end of the text. Each figure is saved and uploaded as a single file, not embedded in the main text Word file. The figure format can be JPG or TIFF. Author Guidelines
Indian Journal of Pharmacy is a quarterly, peer-reviewed, open-access, international journal. It aims to focus on the utmost safety and efficacy among humans by publishing articles in the arena of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Pharmaceutical sciences are an ever-growing field, and manuscripts from Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry and Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance, Pharmaceutics and Nanotechnology, Pharma Research & Review, Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy are invited.
Manuscript Submission:
All manuscripts must be submitted online through the journal's online manuscript submission system. In case of any problem, the manuscript can also be sent to the editor as an email attachment; however, online submission is also a must in these cases, as soon as problems have been sorted out. Any type of postal submission will not be entertained.
Ethics, informed consent, and patient anonymity:
Authors should obtain ethical clearance from the ethical committee for the study, and if requested by the journal's editorial board, the authors should produce a copy of the ethical clearance. It is the author's responsibility to ensure the patient's anonymity. In images or illustrations, the patient's eyes should be masked. However, if the eye area is the focus of illustration, the patient's nose and mouth should be masked, and written consent must be obtained from the patients'/legal guardian. Patients' names should be removed from the figures, radiographs, and CT scans unless written consent is obtained. Studies reporting the experimental investigation on human subjects, procedures should follow the standard guidelines and ethical standards, and authors should indicate that the study was performed with informed consent from the patients/legal guardian or assent from the children aged over 7 years participating in the trial.
The Editorial Process:
All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original contributions submitted to IJP alone, must not be previously published, already accepted for publication, or under consideration for publication elsewhere. After acceptance in the journal, the manuscript must not be published elsewhere in any form without prior permission from the editor-in-chief or publisher. All manuscripts submitted to the IJP receives individual identification code and would initially be reviewed by the editors for suitability for publication. Manuscripts with insufficient originality, serious scientific or technical flaws, or a lack of a significant message are returned before proceeding for formal peer-review.
Manuscripts found suitable for publication are sent to two or more expert reviewers for peer-review. At the time of submission, all the authors are requested to suggest two or three qualified reviewers, experienced in the subject of the submitted manuscript, but this is not mandatory. The reviewers should not be affiliated with the same institution as the contributor/s. However, the selection of these reviewers is at the sole discretion of the editor. The journal follows a double-blind review process, wherein the reviewers and authors are unaware of each other's identity. After receiving the reviewer's report/comments, the report will be communicated to the authors for possible corrections. Authors will be directed to submit a revised manuscript within the time limit, along with a point-by-point response to reviewers' comments.
We ensure speedy publication of the submitted articles and aim to finish the initial review process within 1-2 weeks. However, this time period can change depending on the quality of the manuscript submitted, the reviewer's response, and the time taken by the authors to submit the revised manuscript.
AI Guidelines for Authors
Guidelines for authors regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence
- Authors should disclose the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for manuscript preparation in a separate AI declaration statement in their manuscript upon submission. However, AI tools should not be included in the authorship list.
- Authors should document their use of AI, including the name of the AI Tool used (such as Large Language Models [LLMs], chatbots [e.g., ChatGPT], machine learning, image creators, or similar technologies), the purpose of the use, and the extent of their oversight.
- Basic checks of grammar, spelling, and punctuation need no declaration.
- We discourage large-scale use of AI-assisted technology to the extent that the original human contribution to the work is brought into question (eg, large portions of text written almost completely by AI).
- Authors are responsible for ensuring that the terms of use for all tool(s) permit commercial use and that the output is not owned by the generating website.
- Carefully check sources and citations: Offer a comprehensive list of resources utilized for content and citations, including those produced by AI. Meticulously cross-check citations for their accuracy to ensure proper referencing.
- AI could inadvertently reproduce significant text chunks from existing sources without due citation, infringing others' intellectual property. Confirm that there is no plagiarized content in your submission.
- Images that duplicate or refer to existing copyrighted images, real people, or others’ identifiable products or brands must not be generated
- AI-generated text may reproduce biases, such as racism or sexism, or may overlook perspectives of populations that have been historically marginalized. Relying on AI to generate text or images can inadvertently propagate these biases, so carefully review all AI-generated content to ensure it’s inclusive, impartial, and appeals to a broad readership.
- Do not use generative AI to create or modify core research data artificially.
- If AI was used for data collection, analysis, or figure generation, this should be described in detail in the Materials and Methods section. It is appropriate to use AI in the collection or analysis of data only if this methodology has already been approved by an ethics board (for studies requiring ethical approval).
- Authors are responsible for all aspects of any submitted material that includes the use of AI-assisted technologies. AI will not be able to undertake responsibilities required for authorship, i.e., vouching for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the work.
- Mere declaration of the use of AI is not enough to avoid legal or ethical violations, including plagiarism. It is crucial to recognize that AI should serve as a supplement rather than a complete substitute for human creativity.
- Failure to properly disclose the use of AI-assisted technology at submission may result in the reversal of the acceptance decision or in the retraction of a published manuscript.
